We use to get confusion on the terms;
Latitude and Longitude. But this mnemonic device will remove that confusion.
Let’s examine the word LATITUDE. Break
it !!! Lat + itude . Look at LAT is it rhyming with the word FLAT. And what
does flat mean? Isn’t it on horizontal or straight surface? Yes! It is. So
Latitude is straight lines parallel to equator. i.e. form West to East.
Now, let’s look at the word LONGITUDE.
Again look at the word LoNgitude. Is there the word N which is not in
Latitude. YEAH! Since there is N in longitude and N in the fact North to
South. Longitude is for North to South.

Why will I remember? :
|
After hearing the word Latitude you
will remember flat and horizontal and West to east.
After hearing the word Longitude you
will remember N on middle of Longitude and then North to South. This
associate one word to other.
